Lastly, if there was a fundemental formulation flaw with RL, you would here about engines failing etc. I would get a UOA and have Terry Dyson interpret it for you. RL has a ton of Moly and is for hard driving and extended drains. I'm not saying this is all true, but it's something to consider. Dave from Redline also has stated that UOA's are not a good method to compare one oil to the next. There was a report on an Acura that showed high wear metals but the oil was still good for 15k miles. This was talked about by some of the very knowledgable members on this board. I realize that doesn't prove anything.just thought I'd let you know.įor $7.98 a qt, it is very hard to justify the price, especially when you consider Mobil and Amsoil are very good oils too. They also mention that esters are used in jet turbines and some other gimmick like that. According to the label on the bottle (the new blue labels), it only mentions Polyol Esters and nothing about PAO. There is another thread around where some of you are discussing the composition of basestocks in RL. The price is $7.98 a pop, which needless to say is very pricey. They also had shelf space for 10W-40 and 20W-50, with sticker price and everything.although it was empty. Well, to my amazement, they have Redline oil in stock!! They had 10 bottles of 5W-30 and 8 of 10W-30. Well, I read here that Advance Auto now carries RL oil, so I decided to go to a local Advance Auto on my way to work.
